Information about our Utah Tours.
We are in the process of designing all new tours for 2009! One of the most popular tours in Utah is the 5 Grouse Tour, where we travel around the state and attempt to view Gunnison and Greater Sage-Grouse, Dusky Grouse, Ruffed Grouse and Sharp-tailed Grouse. We also work on picking up Gambel's and California Quail as well as Chukar, Gray Partridge and Ring-necked Pheasant. This tour takes us through most of Utah's varying habitats, and has the potential for over well 150 species in less than 5 days.
We are also working on a Utah Big Week tour for May, where we take a loop around the entire state, in the process racking up almost 250 species of birds in 7 days. Along with the birding, we will travel through a handful of National Parks as well as countless state parks, wildlife refuges, management areas, and preserves, and have the chance to explore these unique areas and learn a little about their history.
A new tour in the works is the Birding our National Parks tour in which we visit Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches National Parks across southern Utah. We also manage to travel through Grand Staircase-Escalante, Natural Bridges, Hovenweep, and Glen Canyon National Recreation Areas. We also manage to fit in a day of birding at Utah's premiere birding hotspot Lytle Ranch on the northern range of the Mojave Desert. And to wrap things up, we'll work on showing participants a number of California Condor currently residing in the Kolob region on the edge of Zion NP. This trip may run several times during different seasons to allow coverage of different species, and different climates.
